The Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce urges local business owners to get out of your box and work smarter — not harder — by joining one of the new Networking Initiative Groups that is forming.

Groups are just in the making, but can be added on with new businesses at any time.  Groups are broken into business tenure or particular type.  The networking “pods” are start-up businesses (1 year or younger), 1-3 years in business, 3-5 years in business, non-profits, Lone Eagles (home-based businesses with the majority of their work outside of the community and under 5 employees) and High Flyers (obtains most of their sales outside the community and over 5 employees).

Other groups may be added on as needed.

The purpose of the groups is to work better together as businesses, share ideas between the businesses to help with any problems or to overcome obstacles, to better collaborate between the businesses and help businesses avoid any pitfalls that may be common to that business phase.  Related successful business mentors will assist the various groups with an array of topics.

The groups could be doing rotating business site visits, studying up on certain business topics, or have a guest speaker.  Each group will meet as they deem necessary and select the topics that are viable to their needs.  Start up business needs may be different than in home business needs and are different from more mature businesses, and so each group will determine their points of priority.

If you are interested in joining a group, starting a group or would like to find out about meeting times and days, please contact the chamber at 264-2360 to receive more information.  We hope that the businesses will find the time to participate in this very important networking opportunity.

It is by sharing ideas and expertise that we can help our businesses and community grow during these difficult times and for the future.
